15thC Single Handed Castillon Sword Type XV 1400-1470

This medieval replica sword was a popular type through most of the 15th Century, and is particularly associated with Castillon after a case of 80 swords was recovered from the Dordogne River in 1973. This Type XV sword with its very pointed diamond section blade was specialised for finding the gaps in armour and this replica will do that perfectly with its needle sharp tip and stiff prominent spine. The wheel pommel, Type XV blade and straight guard with downturned tips makes the Castillon sword iconic.

The hand forged sword is made from 1060 spring steel, has a cord wrapped leather grip, and comes complete with a period appropriate wood cored scabbard covered in naturally tanned leather and a suspension harness, all finished with brass (latten) fittings.  Will fit a waist from around 30”- 44”/76cm – 106cm

The sword is light, lively and beautifully balanced.

The medieval eating set comes in a double layer veg tan leather sheath with individual pockets for knife and pricker.

Grip length 9.5cm/3.75″

Overall length 21cm/8.5″
