Aquatic Compost (Peat-Free Coir-Loam Mix) – For Pond Baskets & Bog Planting (3L & 30L)

A clean, peat-free coir-loam planting mix designed for pond baskets, shelf planting and bog edges. The mineral loam gives weight and stability so baskets sink and stay put; the blended coir improves moisture balance and aeration for healthy roots. The mix is pH-neutral/near-neutral and formulated for aquatic use to minimise leaching, supporting plant growth without spiking nutrients in wildlife ponds. Use it for marginals, shallow-water plants and lilies/sedges that prefer a firm, low-fluff medium – then cap with washed grit for a tidy, non-floating finish.

How to use (quick guide)

1. Pre-wet the compost until evenly damp.

2. Firmly pack into a mesh aquatic basket (leave ~2-3 cm headroom).

3. Set the crown of the plant at the correct depth; top-dress with 2-3 cm washed grit to keep compost from lifting.

4. Lower slowly into the pond to avoid clouding.

5. For wildlife ponds, avoid added fertilisers; let the plant mix & shade do the work.

• 3 L bag: fills three 1 L baskets (or one 3 L basket).

• 30 L bag: fills ten 3 L baskets (or ~30 of the 1 L size).

Safety (important & honest):
Peat-free and pesticide-free. As with any substrate, do not tip spoil into natural watercourses. Rinse grit before use. Wash hands after pond work.
