With its soft pink, star-shaped flowers that appear in late spring and summer, Centaurium erythraea – Common Centaury – is a subtle beauty that plays an important role in attracting pollinators to your garden. Folklore / Name Notes

The name Centaurium is derived from the Greek mythological centaurs, with the plant believed to have been used by them to heal wounds. Erythraea refers to its reddish-pink flowers, which were thought to have medicinal properties — traditionally used as an herb for digestive health.
